Keyboard controls for software

Operating pull-down menus, clicking on an item within a folder, and clicking buttons in dialogue boxes remain a challenge for employees who can not accurately position the cursor due to vision or upper extremity limitations. Keyboard commands may sometimes be used instead.
Common commands include:
- Ctrl-C = Copy
- Ctrl-X = Cut
- Ctrl-V = Paste
- Ctrl-Z = Undo
- Ctrl-P = Print
- Alt-F, S = File-Save menu command
- Tab key = advance a person through the links on a web page, to next form field, etc.
- Shift-Tab = move between links, form fields, etc. in reverse
Formatting commands include:
- Ctrl-B = Bold
- Ctrl-I = Italics
- Ctrl-U = Underline
In Windows, these keyboard commands are sometimes indicated on the menu by underlining the letter that needs to be typed along with the Alt key.
Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act mandates that software include keyboard controls when appropriate.
