- March 24 - Fanny Crosby - American blind lyricist and political lobbyist. Crosby was best known for the over 9,000 Protestant Christian hymns that she wrote. She was also a lobbyist for the education of the blind and a teacher at the New York Institute for the Blind, now known as the New York Institute for Special Education.[1]
