  • March 8 - The first formal psychology research laboratory in the United States was founded. Johns Hopkins University allocated $250 for space and equipment to Granville Stanley Hall.


  • May 2 - Otto Weidt - Weidt was a business man who set up a workshop for the blind and deaf. He fought against the Gestapo to protect his mostly Jewish workforce.[1]
  • May 13 - Georgios N. Papanikolaou - Greek doctor, inventor of the pap smear which is used worldwide to prevent cervical cancer and other problems that can cause sterility.
