  • October 29 - Inge Edler and Carl Hellmuth Hertz, the son of Gustav Ludwig Hertz, completed the first successful measurement of heart activity made by ultrasound.[1]
  • December 16 - Inge Edler and Carl Hellmuth Hertz, the son of Gustav Ludwig Hertz, use ultrasound to produce an echo-encephalogram (ultrasonic probe of the brain).[2]

  • February 12 - Nabil Shaban - British actor. Shaban founded Graeae Theater Company (pronounced 'grey-eye'), a theatre group which promotes performers with disabilities.
