Births

  • June 9 - Michael J. Fox - Canadian/American actor best known for his roles in Back to the Future, Family Ties, and Spin City. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991 but has continued acting. Fox is a staunch supporter of stem cell research.


Deaths

  • December 15 - William Ellsworth Hoy - American baseball player. First deaf player in the major leagues. He taught his teammates signs which some have become useful for umpires throughout the world like “calling balls” and “strikes”.[1]
