  • August - The PenFriend audio labeller for individuals who are blind or have low vision is released. Users place barcode labels on items, and the device allows them to record and play back messages associated with each label.
  • December - Amazon announced that the newest version of the Kindle will incorporate audible menus and larger font sizes to allow users with blindness, low vision, or dyslexia to fully use the device.
