- 2008 - The Sousa Cobra Stock team, a group of 8th grade special education students from Sousa Middle School, win the central region Stock Market Challenge sponsored by the Maryland Council on Economic Education.[1]

- 1789 - Karl Drais - German inventor. Drais invented the "short-hand machine", known today as the stenotype machine, that is used by closed captioners to create real-time captions.[2]
