  • 2008 - Jerry White publishes I Will Not Be Broken: 5 Steps to Overcoming a Life Crisis, a book he wrote in response to losing his leg in a land mine accident in 1984.
  • 2008 - The Sousa Cobra Stock team, a group of 8th grade special education students from Sousa Middle School, win the central region Stock Market Challenge sponsored by the Maryland Council on Economic Education.[1]


Births

  • 1789 - Karl Drais - German inventor. Drais invented the "short-hand machine", known today as the stenotype machine, that is used by closed captioners to create real-time captions.[2]
