- 1870 - Thomas P. Gore - American politician. Gore was a United States Senator (Oklahoma) and a member of the People's (or Populist) Party. Two childhood accidents left Gore blind at a very young age.[1]
Deaths
- 1851 - Karl Drais - German inventor. Drais invented the "short-hand machine", known today as the stenotype machine, that is used by closed captioners to create real-time captions.[2]
