  • 2000 - Former President George H. Bush presented Yoshiko Dart with the George Bush Medal on February 24, 2000 in Houston. Yoshiko accepted on behalf of her husband, Justin W. Dart, Jr., a long time disability rights advocate.


Births

  • 1864 - Grace Eyre Woodhead - British children's disability advocate. Aware of the plight of mentally disabled children, Woodhead formed an unofficial organization to take children out of institutional care and into family life. Later, this organization became the Brighton Guardianship Society.[1]
