  • 1976 - The 1st Winter Paralympic Games are opened in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. The Games included Alpine and Nordic Skiing for amputee and visually impaired athletes, and a demonstration event in Ice Sledge Racing.[1]


Deaths

  • 1884 - Alexander Wood - Scottish physician. Introduced the hypodermic syringe for the administration of medicine.[2]
  • 1919 - Joseph Jules Dejerine - French neurologist. Famous for his study of neurological conditions.[3]
