  • 1843 - Daniel M'Naghten, a Scottish woodturner with paranoid delusions, shot Edward Drummond as he was walking into his family's banking house. Drummond's death and M'Naghten's subsequent trial set forth the legal precedence for the insanity plea.[1]
  • 1943 - "In Uruguay, insurance coverage against risks of old age, unemployment, disability, and death of the wage earner was extended to all agricultural workers, including employers."[2]
