- 1927 - Walter G. Campbell, who was responsible for the removal of many "outrageous patent medicines", begins his second term as commissioner of the FDA.[1]
- 1946 - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are founded as the Communicable Disease Center (CDC) in Atlanta, GA.[2]
