Government & Advocacy
- 1921 - Carl L. Alsberg, an American Chemist retires as the 2nd and youngest Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration ( December 16, 1912 - July 15, 1921) then known as the Bureau of Chemistry.[1]
Sports & Recreation
- 2007 - Casey Tibbs, a track and field athlete and double-amputee, and Jessica Long, a Paralympic swimmer and double-amputee, win the ESPY Awards for Best Male and Female Athlete with a Disability.[2]
Deaths
- 1939 - Eugen Bleuler - Swiss psychiatrist. Blueler was the first to describe schizophrenia and to coin the term autism.[3]
