- 1869 - Thomas Edison obtains U.S. patent for an electrographic vote recorder, the precursor to electronic voting which allows many Americans with disabilities to vote today.[1]
Deaths
- 1968 - Helen Adams Keller - Deaf author and advocate. he first deaf-blind person to graduate from college when she graduated from Radcliffe College, cum laude in 1904.[2]
