  • 1807 - Julia Brace - Deafblind student. Brace was the first deafblind person in America to receive instruction.[1]
  • 1894 - Dr. Leo Kanner - Austrian-American psychiatrist and physician. Kanner was the first to describe autism although the term was originally coined to describe adult schizophrenia.[2]
