- 1906 - The Federal Food and Drug Act of 1906, also known as the "Wiley" Act is passed giving regulatory powers to the Bureau of Chemistry later to be known as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).[1]
Deaths
- 1930 - Harvey Washington Wiley- American chemist. Wiley was the first commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.[2]
