  • 2008 - David Paterson becomes the first known legally blind Governor in the United States when he takes over as Governor of New York.[1]


Deaths

  • 1983 - Haldan Keffer Hartline - American Physiologist. Hartline, Ragnar Granit, and George Wald won the 1967 Nobel prize in Physiology or Medicine for their "for their discoveries concerning the primary physiological and chemical visual processes in the eye". In the early 1940's, Hartline worked on problems of night vision in human subjects.[2]
