- 1900 - David Peikoff - Canadian deaf advocate. Charter member of the Canadian Association of the Deaf. He was a prolific fundraiser who began a scholarship for deaf Canadians wishing to attend Gallaudet University.
- 1944 - Karl Koller - Austrian ophthalmologist, first to introduce cocaine as a local anesthetic for eye surgery.
