  • 1847 - Alexander Graham Bell - known as the "father of the deaf". Bell is famous for the invention of the telephone as well as for his work in teaching the deaf and deaf-mute to communicate through Visible Speech, a system his father, Alexander Melcville Graham devised.

  • 1916 - George Huntington - American physician, first to describe symptoms of a hereditary chorea or "Huntington's Disease".
