  • 1899 - Bayer registers aspirin as a trademark.
  • 1998 - Deaf President Now (DPN), a student-led protest at Gallaudet University begins with the Board of Trustees announces that a hearing individual, Dr. Elisabeth Zinser, was chosen over several deaf candidates to be the next university president. DPN supporters believed that the world's only university for deaf and hard of hearing students should be run by a person who was deaf and began a week-long protest. "It also was a unique coming together of Gallaudet students, faculty and staff with the national deaf community—all bound by clear and defined goals."[1]


Deaths

  • 1971 - Herbert McLeans Evans - American investigator. Discovered Vitamin-E along with Katharine Scott Bishop and isolated the pituitary growth hormone.[2]
