Science
- 1796 - English scientist Edward Jenner, began the first immunization of smallpox by infecting his gardener's son with cowpox. Later, Jenner would become known as the father of immunology.[1]
Technology
- 2005 - Dean Kamen is inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame for the invention of the AutoSyringe, the first practical insulin pump.[2]
