  • 1916 - U.S. v. FORTY BARRELS AND TWENTY KEGS OF COCA COLA , 241 U.S. 265 (1916) is concluded in the U.S. Supreme Court. The case was won by Coca-Cola, but afterwards the Pure Food and Drugs Act of 1906 was amended, adding caffeine to the list of 'habit-forming' and 'deleterious' substances which must be listed on the label.[1]


Births

  • 1828 - Albrecht von Graefe - German oculist. His two most important discoveries were his method of treating Glaucoma and a new operation for Cataracts. He was also famous for describing Homonymous hemianopsia, a type of partial blindness. The eponymous "Graefe's sign" is associated with Graves-Basedow disease.
