Deaths
- 1947 - Ira Clifton Copley - American Congressman. Copley was a member of the House of Representatives and a newspaper an utilities tycoon. Copley was struck by scarlet fever at the age of two leaving his vision severely impaired.[1]
- 1947 - Tilly Aston - Australian disability advocate. Aston was a blind writer and teacher who formed the Victorian Association of Braille Writers and the Association for the Advancement of the Blind.
