Deaths

  • 1948 - Samuel T. Orton - American physician. Orton was a pioneer in the study of learning disabilities. He is best known for his work examining the causes and treatment of reading disability, or dyslexia.[1]
  • 1992- Audre Lorde - American writer, poet and activist. Nearsighted and legally blind, Lorde was a controversial poet who once referred to herself as "a black feminist lesbian mother poet".[2]
