Births

  • 1945 - Wilma Mankiller - First female Chief of the Cherokee Nation. While in the hospital after a car accident, Mankiller was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy.[1]
  • 1966 - Jean Driscoll - Wheelchair racer. As of 2008, Driscoll held the record for the most wins at the Boston Marathon, beating out everyone in the standard and wheelchair divisions. She is also an Olympic silver medalist.[2]
