  • 1953 - Inge Edler and Carl Hellmuth Hertz, the son of Gustav Ludwig Hertz, completed the first successful measurement of heart activity made by ultrasound.[1]
  • 2002 - The Help America Vote Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-252), which called for more accessible voting methods in polling stations, was signed into law by President George W. Bush. It required that all polling stations have at least one accessible station by July 26, 2006.[2]

  • 1881 - Jean-Baptiste Bouillaud - French physician, first to find a correlation between rheumatism and heart disease.
